Guy Mettan is a journalist, politician and executive director of the Swiss Press Club, of which he is a founding member.
A native of Valais, Guy Mettan studied political science at the University of Geneva. He founded the academic magazine “Courants”, of which he was the editor-in-chief. After graduating, he worked for a certain number of newspapers, such as Temps Stratégique, Bilan, Nouveau Quotidien and the Tribune de Genève, of which he was Director and Editor-in-Chief.
In parallel to his journalistic activities, Guy Mettan was initiated to politics in 1999, becoming City Councilor of the City of Geneva under the PDC banner. Since 2001 he has been a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva.
This journalist and politician is active in a wide range of fields, including Vice-President of the Swiss-West African Chamber of Commerce in 2001 and President of the Geneva Red Cross in 2006.
Guy Mettan will be present at our conference to discuss the current challenges of the written press and its likely changes in the short and long term. His extensive experience in journalism and politics will enable him to approach this subject with experience and retreat.
