Every Summer, GIMUN organises a week-long itinerary to discover the International Geneva, and take a look behind the scenes of this exceptional place. This project aims at giving to the participants an in-depth overview of the international activities taking place in Geneva in different fields, such as global health, economics, human rights or migrations.

What is International Geneva?

Geneva is the headquarter of more than 20 International Organisations, and has a long-standing tradition as hub for global diplomacy. Additionally, around 250 NGOs have their seat in Geneva, which make this city a vivid center of multilateral negotiations.

Every day, all our activities (visits, workshops, meeting with experts) will focus on one of these themes. We will visit different International Organisations based in Geneva, such as the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the World Trade Organisation (WTO) among others, for the purpose of acquiring some first-hand knowledge on their everyday work.

Furthermore we will meet with representatives of some NGOs that work in close collaboration with these IOs in their domain of specialisation. Finally the programme is rounded up with some excursions like a guided tour through the United Nations office Geneva and a visit of the museum of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) as well as some workshops with professors and professionals of the field chosen for each day.

This week will give you the opportunity to personally meet the global actors of International Geneva and discover all the facets of this cosmopolitan city.
