NGO Department

Heads of Department

Nicolas Vetterli - GIMUN President & Head of NGO Department

I was born in 1989 and raised in Geneva, a city that naturally fed my interest for international relations. I am currently a third year Political Science student at the University of Geneva and I hope to pursue a Master's degree in the USA.
I discovered GIMUN at its annual conference in 2010, where I represented Georgia in the Peace Building Commission. I then spent an incredible year between 2010 and 2011 working for the NGO itself. Having taken part in the organisation of Youth Perspectives and most of the GIMUN events during the year, as secretary of the ECOSOC committee at the annual conference amongst other roles, I carry the desire to continue to promote GIMUN's mission in the line of my predecessors.
GIMUN offers a unique perspective on international relations and human relations in general, through its annual conference and thanks to our Special Consultative Status with the UN ECOSOC. GIMUN perfectly combines fun and seriousness!

Gretel Lahmann - Vice President

Born and raised in Colombia, I decided to move to France when I was 17 years old to learn French as a third language. I did a joint Bachelor’s Degree in International Law and Languages in Grenoble, France and later moved to Geneva to begin a Master’s Degree in International Law at the Graduate Institute of Geneva.
Even though I learnt of GIMUN through the 2011 Annual Conference in which I represented the US Ambassador, I have been participating in MUNs since I was 14 years old. I am currently the Vice-President of GIMUN and a firm believer in what GIMUN can do: be the voice of youth in front of the UN.

Youth Perspectives Managers

Andrin Eichin - Youth Perspectives Manager

I was born in 1988 and spent my childhood in Zurich. Currently, I am studying International Relations in my third year at the University of Geneva. UN Day 2010 was my first  involvement in GIMUN activities. From the beginning I was fascinated by the commitment young people showed in discussing current international affairs. After UN Day, the NGO department asked me if I would like to help organizing a youth conference named Youth Perspectives, which soon became a great passion and throughout the organisational phase I was fascinated by the idea that this conference will unite young people, all totally different, which will discuss their visions and opinions. Youth Perspectives has confirmed my conviction that young people can and should make a considerable contribution to world politic, all the more, as it is today’s youth, which will have to deal with the issues of our world in the future.

Ludivine Candiotti - Youth Perspectives Manager

I was born in Paris in March 1988 and I spent 10 years in Nyon, a small city on the front of the Lake of Geneva, before plunging into the discovery of Asia. My my pre-universitary studies took place in Singapour, Hong Kong and Beijing where, within the ambiance of the international schools, I discovered the MUNs. I am currently doing a bilingual (French/German) Master's law degree in Geneva. Tempted by the ambiance of GIMUN, I couldn't resist in participating. From year to year, young motivated students collaborate to make today's youth aware of the ideals and main challenges of the United Nations. After several years of acting as the Ambassador of China, then Chairperson of the Human Rights Council, this year I will manage the Youth Perspectives Conference. This first step in the "NGO side" of the organization and this incredible occasion to put into use our consultative status at the Economic & Social Council of the UN gave me one only desire : to live this incredible experience again and to share it with other
people !

Blog ("You Know, UNO?") Editors-in-Chief

Camille von Kaenel - Co-Editor in Chief of the GIMUN Blog

Born in Neuchâtel, I grew up in Palo Alto, California, the heart of Silicon Valley and a haven of sunny weather. Since I joined my high school's news magazine, journalism has fascinated me. Now, I am back in Switzerland as a first-year student in the International Relations Bachelor and I am glad to be able to pursue this interest in another setting. Within the United Nations realm, environmental issues, economic development, and women's education particularly interest me.

MUN Society Directors

Moritz Hentschel - MUN Society Director

My name is Moritz Hentschel and I'm in my second year of the Bachelor of International Relations in Geneva. Being born in Germany I enjoy studying abroad, especially in Geneva where cultures and languages meet. This is also the reason for the passion I feel concerning Model United Nations and I am happy and proud to be part of the world's best MUN here in Geneva. A part from hunting crocodiles, my hobbies are sports, travelling, languages, food, music...everything that makes live even sweeter than it already is.

Laura Navarro-Lacroix - MUN Society Director

I was born in Arnhem, in the Netherlands in 1991 from a French mother and a Spanish father. I arrived in France, next to the Swiss boarder at the age of 11 and fell in love with the region. Being
raised multi-lingual, surrounded by people and cultures from all around the world and being interested in Humanitarian organizations, I naturally chose to study International Relations at the University of Geneva. I am currently in my third year of studies and would like to pursue my Master in an Anglo-Saxon country in the field of political science.
I have been with GIMUN for a year now and I discovered the MUN world by participating in both sessions of MUN Society as a delegate and in the Annual Conference of 2010 as Secretary of the UN Women Committee. It really got my attention and interest as it linked the reality of the UN’s world, the problems faced with on an international level, but also the fun and educational activities that are shaped for students. This year I am Deputy Director General of the MUN Society and hope thereby to further spread the love, the interest and the enthusiasm for GIMUN, International relations and the United Nations to a lot of other students.
