Oceans, an endangered and neglected source of life

Samuel Gardaz

After studying at the Paris-Sorbonne University et and the French National Institut of Oriental Language and Civilisation, Samuel Gardaz, fascinated by the arab world and russian civilization, entered the word of journalism and worked for the well renowned Swiss-French newspaper “Le Temps”. After 7 years spent in “Le Temps”, he continues to work in the field of journalism by working for the AFP (Agence France-Press), then for Rolex, where he worked as a Chief-Redactor of the internal magazine “Rolex Time” and co-responsible of the external magazine “Rolex Magazine”. Samuel Gardaz is also a founding member and Vice-President of the Fondation Pacifique and President of the Association Pacifique, two Geneva based Swiss non-profit organizations.

The aim of these organizations is to conceive socio-educational projects and raise awareness of the marine environment aboard two sailboats. For the Fondation Pacifique, the sea constitutes not only an important space for men from an evironmental point of view, but also, for whomever crosses it by sailing, the main framework to learn solidarity and to grow in respect for others. Samuel Gardaz will explain its actions and role in scientific researches and environmental awareness more in detaiil, especially through the project of his Foundation, “The Mapping Expedition.”
