L'Equipe du GIMUN 2006
Cette page est seulement disponible en anglais.
The Geneva International Model United Nations hosts 150 participants every year during one full week.
A lot of things need to be prepared in order for the GIMUN to run smoothly. This is the Organising Committee
in charge of the organization of GIMUN 2006:

Registration - Daniela Hauser
The most important reason for the GIMUN’s success is the exceptional quality of its participants.
Therefore, the rigorous selection of candidates is absolutely crucial for a well-functioning UN
model. Daniela Hauser is in charge of registration and recruitment and spends long hours treating
applications from potential candidates from all over the world. Daniela has graduated this year
from HEC in Lausanne, Switzerland and is currently organizing everything for the GIMUN from Ecuador
where she'll be teaching English for three months before coming back to Switzerland. Daniela is
assisted by Karina who is in the 2nd year at the HEI.

Fundraising - Claire Veuthey
The GIMUN is expensive. we offer coffee, dinner and parties to 150 participants during one whole week.
We also provide financial aid for certain delegates from developing countries. Fundraising is,
therefore, essential for the very existence of the GIMUN. Claire Veuthey, 4th year licence student
at HEI, is our specialist in this field. Last year’s ILO chair, Claire decided this year to give her
time and energy to the noble and essential cause of raising money for the GIMUN. Let’s wish her good
luck in her difficult task! Along with Michael, Claire is also responsible for the Media contacts.

Media - Michael Ineichen
The GIMUN has changed its appearance: our website has been completely remodelled and much improved.
The GIMUN also has a new logo. Michael Ineichen, WTO chair at GIMUN 2005 and 4th year licence student
at HEI, is responsible for the website as well as for the promotion material like brochures and
posters. Although he’s busy, Michi also finds time to help the confused editor in chief with her
Mac programs. Mache is also in charge of media relations. His address book is already full with
contacts of various international journalists, who, hopefully, will write many articles about
the GIMUN 2006!

Logistics - Sebastien Moretti
More than 150 students from all over the world will come to Geneva for the GIMUN. This poses numerous
challenges in terms of logistics: hotel rooms need to be found, dinners and parties have to be
planned, and last but not least conferences room at the Palais des Nations must be organized. The
GIMUN’s department of Logistics is certainly not lacking in dynamism: Sebastien Moretti, another
4th year licence student and the GIMUN’s hero for booking the UN’s best rooms for the event,
controls every penny which is spent for the GIMUN. He will go to great lengths and test every single
restaurant in Geneva in order to choose the best fondue in town.

Secretaries-General - Philipp Lustenberger and David Lanz
At first sight, it might seem strange to have two Secretary-Generals. After all, the UN only has
one SG! In fact, the GIMUN Secretary-General is in charge of various missions, which one person
could not take on without completely neglecting university. Philipp Lustenberger and David Lanz are
responsible, on the one hand, for the overall coordination of the GIMUN – organizing Executive
Committee meetings, representing the GIMUN to the outside, and planning the GIMUN opening
conference. On the other hand, the SGs take an active role in the workshops. They assist the
chairs and present the UN’s position regarding a particular topic. Philipp and David are 4th
year licence students at HEI. This summer, they were abroad in South Africa America respectively
where the many E-mails they sent each other made local Internet Cafe owners very happy.
Philipp’s experience as a doctor during Hurricane Stan in Guatemala was covered by BBC – we’re
sure he’ll be happy to tell you all about it. His Excellency David earned his stars at the
Swiss Embassy in Pretoria.

Many other people are involved in the organization of the GIMUN. Our Webmaster Nick Imboden deserves
to be particularly mentioned: the amazingly useful website he created makes life a lot easier for the
organizing committee and participants. Paola Salwan, last year’s vice editor in Chief for the
GIMUNews will be Editor in Chief this year. Paola’s also in 4th year licence at HEI. Marc Allgower,
a 3rd year licence student at HEI, will assist her. Last, but definitely not least, tribute is
paid to the GIMUN’s 12 chairs, who all prepared incredibly interesting and challenging workshops.
